It has been almost a whole month since I retired (gee, sounds like the beginning of a Catholic confession)! Am I having a good time? Yes! Am I travelling? No and why do people assume you must travel to have fun? I travelled when I was working! That was why I was working! Oh yes, that and health insurance!
Why has there been such a long time between blogs? I was tired! Now that I have been able to catch my breath, there will be more.
I have been able to see "Camelot" at the Philharmonic on a week night! I have been able to plant a sapodilla tree and three monstera deliciosas and mulch my back yard. Yes, I know, I still have the front yard to do!
I have been reading:
"The Reserve" by Russell Banks, a book reminding me of my brother's place in the Adirondacks but set in the mid-1930's,
"A Golden Age" by Tahmina Anam, a book set in the 1971 Bangladesh War of Independence, "The Palace of Illusions" by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, the retelling of the 6000 BCE - 5000 BCE Indian epic "The Maharsharat" from a woman's point of view.

RSS feeds
I am having great fun adding RSS feeds. I have chosen books and gardening as my favorites and will continue to add links as I go. Political news will also be of interest to me during this next year. I am always an optimist that the candidates will do what they should!
The reviews will always be helpful to a librarian as we are asked to provide advice to readers on what to read and host book discussions for groups. Other feeds can be helpful to patrons on research in their respective fields and it is helpful to know a few in many fields.

FLickr
I uploaded a flamenco dancer picture to FLickr. This was a multicultural event held on Literacy Day and was such a success! Playing with it was the second time, but the first time I contributed a picture rather than just viewing. I went to a Seikh/Episcopalian wedding the summer of 2006 in Treasure Beach, Jamaica, and the pictures that were taken were posted on Flickr. Now I know how this was achieved.

Adding an avatar: I used Yahoo avatars and had to figure out how to put it on the blog. My techie advisor was not present, so this is a really, really, big achievement for a non-techie. Do you like it? I wanted it to represent my inner self rather than the rather clumsy carbon life form I am stuck with (at least without the work of major plastic surgery).
I am going about the Play to Learn rather at my own pace since I missed so much time at the beginning. This is all about me!!!

7 1/2
Procrastination is part of my make-up. I was on vacation when this began. When your first three weeks had already passed, I was back and catching up with regular work. No time for play!
I now accept responsibility. This will be a lot of fun. I have plenty of confidence, especially with my techie workmate sitting beside me.
